Proverbs 31: 10-31

Will you join me in creating an online community of faith for women who are seeking blessed homes and a better world?

We are Proverbs 31 women. Women who enjoy (or try to enjoy!) and understand the very important value of working with our hands -- sewing, baking bread, caring for children, tending to gardens, cooking healthy dinners, volunteering in our communities. We are women who uplift each other and embrace the domestic arts (or at least aspire to!). We strive create blessed homes and a better world.

Proverbs 31: 10-31 (below) reminds us of our path:

A capable wife who can find?

She is far more precious than jewels.

The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.

She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands.

She is like the ships of the merchant, she brings her food from far away.

She rises while it is still night and provides food for her household and tasks for her servant-girls.

She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.

She girds herself with strength, and makes her arms strong.

She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.

Her lamp does not go out at night.

She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.

She opens her hand to the poor, and reaches out her hands to the needy.

She is not afraid for her household when it snows, for all her household are clothed in crimson.

She makes herself coverings; her clothing is fine linen and purple.

Her husband is known in the city gates, taking his seat among the elders of the land.

She makes linen garments and sells them; she supplies the merchant with sashes.

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children rise up and call her happy; her husband too, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Give her a share in the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the city gates.

Hello everyone, I am Jill’s Mother, Peggy. I think this is a great idea, Jill. There is a quote by Sydney Smith that says, “It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can.” I believe God wants us to what we can even though it may seem small. It is never small to Him. Do something special for someone today. Jill has already made my week special. I look forward to our chats.

Hmmm...thought I left a comment. Don't know where it went. I said that the passage was lovely and that I was looking forward to reading and participating. Hope this one gets on the board!

I love this idea, and I really love the passage. I want to copy it down and frame it so I remember why I do what I do! Thanks for doing this, Jill - I can't wait!

God has written the story of women "on our hearts" or as science has shown us in our mitochondrial DNA!

Within each of us is the name of one of the Seven Daughters of Eve...we are all Sisters! Through our MTDNA science has traced our story from the first Mother/Eve and how her seven daughters changed the story of this earth with their travels and growing families.

Our story is written even if we forget to lift pen to paper or fall asleep early from our day of labor. The story is authored by God but told through the body and blood of women. Our sons inherit the story but they cannot retell or add to the story. The story is passed on and added to only from mother to daughters.

We will add to this story with our travels here and our families at home. :-)

Through out the world girl babies are aborted, abandoned and murdered. Their only fault/crime is that they are "female". How many pages of our story are now missing...how many pages will be written if mankind would but only hear God's word about girls...

"They are my Daughters and Keepers of Story"

Would there be more prayers celebrating the birth of girls, like those spoken by Anna at the celebration of the birth of Mary...would there be fewer prayers "thanking God for being born a man"? Sisters, please join me in this prayer!

When we link our heats, hands and prayers we become what God has called us to be, Powerful Prayer Warriors, Keepers of the Keys and Daughters of God.

May God bless this Blog as it grows into a mighty link to my Sisters and our story!
