Mother Teresa
I remember the day it happened: September 5, 1997. I was living in Charleston, South Carolina, at the time and had gone out for my early morning walk. As I made my way down King Street toward the Battery, I stopped -- stunned. The newspaper headline staring out of the rack left me mourning -- Mother Teresa had died. Ten years later the world continues to feel the loss.Recently, it has come to light the Mother Teresa struggled with doubting God -- just as we all do. Rather than diminishing her greatness, I find her humanity heartening. It makes Mother Teresa even more amazing. In her darkest days, she did not waver from her work or her faith.
Let her be a role model for us all.
